Welcome to our family of faith!
We acknowledge that we meet and work on Treaty 1 Land, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, and Dakota Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We are grateful for their stewardship of this land and their hospitality which allows us to live, work and serve God the Creator here.
Messiah Lutheran was established as a mission congregation in the community of Westwood beginning in 1964. We first worshipped at Robert Browning School before moving to our present building in 1967. We share our building with community partners including Starting Strong program for families and chilidren and Girl Guides 400th Winnipeg Group, and other occasional users from the wider community.
Our mission is to share God's grace and love in worship, fellowship, through Christian Education, outreach to and with our community.
We are a member of the Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario (MNO) Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and full communion partners with the Anglican Church in Canada. We support the work of Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR), respondng to humanitarian crises and promoting peace, justice, and equality with global partners. And we are actively engaged with Lutheran Urban Ministry theurban.ca
